SDR Therapy Training Program for Psychologists and Counsellors

SDR Therapy is the most evidence-based therapy application available today. It is based on the robust examination of the mechanisms behind maladaptive thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and supported by the most up-to-date research across the fields of neuroscience, biochemistry, and memory/learning. Unlike all other therapies, it is not based on philosophical concepts, but on science.

This novel and comprehensive training program teaches SDR Therapy in the context of even the most complex treatment plans, allowing you to confidently implement SDR Therapy within your practice.

The program includes extensive personalised support, which you can read about below.

We hope you’ll join us.

A Comprehensive List of What’s Included In Your Program

12 Online Modules

Notes, videos, audios, PDFs, all backed up by extensive group and personal support.

This personally-supported online training program for psychologists provides a comprehensive introduction to the theoretical basis and practical application of SDR (Sensory Disruption of Reconsolidation of conditioned responses). Although the focus is on chronic pain, as you will see it has applications for a very wide variety of issues and disorders.

Module 1 – Creating a Safe and Effective Environment for the Chronic Pain Patient: From the importance of doctor referral for chronic pain clients, through to client retention issues in order to ensure program completion, this module will help enrich the therapeutic liaison right from the start.

Unit 1 – Introduction to Program – Why it’s critical to get a diagnosis from the client’s doctor in every case
Unit 2 – Suicidality in the chronic pain client
Unit 3 – Workers compensation issues as complicating factors
Unit 4 – Acceptable Language (and Exceptions)
Unit 5 – Client Responsibilities – Including protection from woo/misinformation/snake oil
Unit 6 – Ensuring client retention – preventing no-shows and avoiding too-early discharge from your program
Unit 7 – Structure of the first session

Module 2 – The Crucial Holistic Approach to Lifestyle Issues and Co-morbidity – In this module we investigate how habits and other lifestyle issues, as well as co-morbidity, can create or maintain chronic pain states because of over-sensitivity (and/or over-arousal) of the central nervous system.

Unit 1 – The over-sensitive nervous system

Module 3 – Foundations of Chronic Pain – In this module we introduce a different but evidence-based perspective of chronic pain, in preparation for Module 4 where we go into detail in relation to the theory and practice of SDR (Sensory Disruption of Reconsolidation of conditioned responses).

Unit 1 – The story of Sally
Unit 2 – Sham and real surgery for chronic pain
Unit 3 – MRI and X-ray – no correlation with chronic pain
Unit 4 – Differences between acute pain and chronic pain
Unit 5 – Strangeness of chronic pain and associated somatic symptoms
Unit 6 – Our theory of chronic pain – introduction to SDR
Unit 7 – Commonly-used medications and treatments – flawed practice and flawed research

Module 4 – Using SDR in Your Clinic – Here we spell out exactly and in detail how we introduce the concept of SDR to the client, and how we apply the SDR strategy in the session.

Unit 1 – Implementing SDR for chronic pain in your practice

Module 5 – Metaphor and Meaning – Here we discuss teasing out symbols, perceptions, and meanings, and addressing them using SDR. We also look at clean language as a way of allowing the client to process and resolve these quite quickly.

Unit 1 – Teasing out metaphor/meaning/symbols that are associated with the pain experience

Module 6 – SDR and Identity – We introduce the client to the concept of identity, exploring their thoughts, feelings and beliefs in more detail.

Unit 1 – SDR and identity
Unit 2 – SDR and identity issues

Module 7 – SDR and Stress, Fear, Anxiety etc – We identify non-adaptive responses to environmental conditions, and use SDR to quickly modify or entirely eliminate the stress response.

Unit 1 – SDR and stress, fear, anxiety etc – ways to use NeuroStim to quickly resolve unwanted thoughts and feelings

Module 8 – Other Important Tools – In this module we introduce additional tools, most of which are little known, one which is quite misunderstood, and one which is probably underestimated as a tool for rapid change.

Unit 1 – The Disruption Triangle
Unit 2 – Anchoring – using one conditioned response to extinguish another
Unit 3 – GaugeWork
Unit 4 – Logotherapy
Unit 5 – More effective strategies for goal acquisition

Module 9 – The Therapeutic Ambit – In treating chronic pain we need to look at both direct causes of pain signalling, and indirect stressors that cause or maintain oversensitivity (eg central sensitisation, or simply hypersensitivity/over-arousal) in the nervous system.

Unit 1 – The therapeutic ambit

Module 10 – A Structure of Therapy Session for a Typical Chronic Pain Patient – We give a structure for session 1, session 2, and 3 and beyond, that are most likely to fully address the entire ambit of therapy and produce the best possible outcomes for the client.

Unit 1 – A structure of therapy sessions for a typical chronic pain client (where we work with twin intentions: identify and extinguish specific pain triggers; identify and extinguish indirect pain triggers – seeking to quieten the nervous system generally)

Module 11 – Promoting Your Practice – This module is for psychologists who would like to build their practice without burning out, and without begging for referrals or being at the mercy of the health funds.

Unit 1 – Promoting your practice effectively

Module 12 – Perfecting Your Use of SDR with Chronic Pain and with Other Issues – This module presents your options going forward.

Unit 1 – Using your other tools – perfecting your practice

Plus! Our Trademarked “WeightChoice” Program

This is a comprehensive weight normalisation program which is NOT about dieting. Instead of giving clients an eating plan or exercise plan to follow, we investigate the actual feelings, thoughts, and behaviours which have resulted in specific excess calorie consumption, and use SDR strategies to permanently resolve those issues. Easily extinguish non-hungry eating of all kinds: compulsive/addictive, emotional, habitual, situational (the conditioned aspects of maladaptive eating behaviours).

Includes support for you AND FOR YOUR CLIENTS.

Plus! More Value for Your Clients Too!

As a student of the program, you are welcome to enrol up to 20 clients at any one time in our online public programs for chronic pain and/or weight loss. This means that you’re able to use these valuable resources as additional client support in between their sessions with you, keeping them on track with your work together. It also means that if you wish, you can simply supervise individuals or groups as they work their way through.

You can offer these on a complimentary basis, or use them as paid services – it’s completely up to you.

Fee for Your SDR Training Program: $2997

After over 20 years of developing and using SDR both in clinical trials and in-house with the widest variety of clients, we’re 100% confident that you will learn and implement this truly remarkable strategy.

We look forward to sharing this amazing journey with you.

Why Does this Program Focus on Chronic Pain?

Make no mistake, we have a mission to bring far more efficacious strategies to the wider therapeutic community, in order to achieve much more satisfactory outcomes involving all kinds of psychological or emotional issues. At the same time we have a mission to eliminate suffering including non-malignant chronic pain which is currently not being adequately addressed for over 1 billion people.

Because chronic pain possibly involves more issues and co-morbidities than any other problem, by making that our focus we get to provide you with the deepest, widest exposure possible, and also increase the possibility that more of our colleagues will become as excited as we are about being able to provide relief for the 1.5 billion people who are currently suffering from non-malignant chronic pain and not being significantly helped.

Alone we can have no impact. However you, together with your colleagues, can take this material and immediately create a massive win/win/win/…. for your clients, their employers, their communities, and their families, as well as for our health system and for your professional practice.

Let’s do this …
